US Route 89 traverses three broad geographic provences: Basin & Range, Colorado Plateau and Rocky Mountains. In northern Montana, it skirts along the western edge of the Great Plains. Within each provence, I have broken the highway into smaller segments. For easy navigation, each segment begins and ends in a town or city.Use the menu on the left to navegate to the section that interests you.I live in Arizona so I have always thought of US Route 89 going from south to north. Consequently, I have arranged the Road Trip Guides beginning at Nogales on the Mexican border and proceeding north to Canada. The guides are most detailed and with the most photographs in the Arizona and southern Utah sections. That is the region with which I am most familiar and have photographed for years. As the US Route 89 Photography Project progresses, I will fill in the gaps with more information and photographs. Check What’s New every week for updates. If you have photographs and stories you would like to add to the road trip guides, go to Share Your Stories. Your contributions will add greatly to the usefulness of this site and to the enjoyment of fellow travelers on the West's Most Western Highway.I hope you enjoy this virtual tour. I also hope it will motivate you to get in your car for a day or two and see for yourself the wonders to be found on a road trip along US Route 89.
